Walmart acquired Moosejaw in 2017 for about $51 million. There are brick-and-mortar Moosejaw locations in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan and Missouri.
Dive Insight:
Moosejaw was one of a slew of acquisitions by Walmart, which also scooped up Bonobos, Modcloth, Shoes.com and Jet at about the same time. More recently the retail giant has quietly unloaded or shut down many of those e-retailers.
Now Moosejaw, founded in 1992, will move over to Dick’s.
"We admire what Moosejaw has accomplished over the past 30 years as leaders in the outdoor industry and look forward to the opportunity to share insights and learn from one another," Spaletto said in a statement. "We believe there's potential to grow the Moosejaw business and provide compelling experiences and an expanded product assortment to its millions of loyal customers."
